This is the official thread to go to if you have any questions about the upcoming new system. I'll try to answer them if I can, and if I can't, that gives me a good idea of what I need to work on.
Thanks. First question?

Are we still going to be allowed to train to get Jutsu? If so, will you use the day system of NT 1.0, or will we have to pay money and whatnot?

Yeah, same question here. Personally, I liked the training system in Ninja Tatakai 1.0 the best. It ethically made sense, and it was fun to do. As well, it puts a nice spin on "If you don't train (POST), then you will never get better (LEARN SKILLZ)."
Or... perhaps implicate both systems? So, have like, 75% of the jutsu learnable just by training, and 25% you have to buy the scroll, THEN train? Yeah.

The problem with the old training system is that some players don't have time to come on every day and write part of an RP. I don't want to put changes in the game that will discourage new member turnout (which we need at this point).
In version 1.5, you buy jutsu scrolls from the scroll shop. This helps to keep a careful balance of jutsu diversity and bonuses applied by weapons/armor/items. What I may do is implement a sort of Skill Point system like we used to do. You'll only be able to learn a jutsu if you have a skill point (and you'll get one for like, every level up or something).
In conclusion, reasons would lead me not to implement the old RP training style, at least until we get a good userbase.

Alright, that's reasonable.
Now, I've got a question/suggestion. Wouldn't it be more sensible to have the starting HP for a Ninja a lot lower? Considering the low damage values of techniques compared to the 30HP, battles would take a VERY long time. As well, it seems easy to add to your HP. So, perhaps lowering the beginning HP to something like... 20HP, or 15HP would make more sense. Then it'd be easier to build on to, and battles would be times appropriately (for such Genin ninja).
Jeah. Unless, of course, you have other reasonings behind it.

The HP was originally 50, but I lowered it with that in mind. You have tho factor in, however, the damage added by Strength, Mind, and Dexterity. Five points of strength (which you can obtain right off the bat) will add 5 damage to any physical attack. The standard melee attack, for instance, does only 1 damage. But add 5 to that, and your character is shelling out 6 damage at the cost of 1 AP per attack. I was actually thinking of changing that attack for that reason.
About raising HP. After level 5, attributes are more difficult to level up. I doubt there will be many people who forego their main attack stats and concentrate on only Vitality, and if someone did, it wouldn't be particularily advantageous unless they had a killer strategy. Think about it.
75 HP averaging 15 damage per attack Vs. 105 HP averaging 5 damage per attack. (10 STR and 5 VIT) -> <- (5 STR and 10 VIT) Both ninja are approximately level 10
The outcome is fairly easy to predict, because HP becomes less valuable as time goes on. The bonuses that come from Vitality that strengthen defense aren't as valuable as those which boost attack power, because you can only usually use two defense skills at max per turn, whereas most ninja will be using 3-4 attacks per turn, on average.
So basically, unless both players devote their ninja solely to raising Vitality, battles should be fairly fast-paced.

Fair enough. Thanks for the explaination. I've got nothing else... but I'm looking forward to getting into this RPG. It'll be helluva fun.
