This is a private RP for me and Panicz. No new RPers can join at the moment. The sound of typing filled the air--rushing water in the background. "Ahum...uh oh!" Reki leaped up. "I forgot to turn the shower off!" A rythmic beat filled the room as Reki strolled towards the bathroom. In his shorts alone he felt a need to display another of his "dance numbers". He stopped to admire his physique in the mirror as he passed by. "Creak...creak..." the water stopped and Reki returned to the mirror. He folded his arms and cupped his chin. He had the look of an artist, trying desperately to find what was missing in his painting. Reki smiled as he grabbed his comb and whipped it once through his golden hair. "There we go," he chuckled to himself. Reki brushed his teeth and came back into his bedroom, the computer still playing the same song. Reki typed for a couple seconds, his mouth still filled with foaming toothpaste. "Hmm..." he hummed to himself. It was the only noise he could make after all. The chair squeaked and in another instant he had returned to the bathroom. "Well listeners it's June 29th! We all know what that means! Just one more day until Raoin-Otakebi! For you tourists in town, Raoin-Otakebi, other wise known as the Lion's Roar, is Shozu's annual fire festival!"Reki cocked his head and poked his face gingerly. He bared a slight frown as he looked in the mirror. However, it had nothing to do with the radio program. It didn't even seem like he was listening at the time. "Of course, Raoin-Otakebi is celebrated everywhere in the Land of Flames, not just Shozu!"
"Then why did you refer to it as 'Shozu's annual festival'?"
"Ahuh...well *silence*..."
"Ugh, what am I supposed to do with him, eh? As Kuro-chan was saying, Raoin-Otakebi is...""Clink, clink...zip!" Keto straightened his jacket and smiled in the mirror. "Heh," he muttered to himself. He turned and walked to his computer stepping on the chair with one foot. "Dum, de dum~" Reki continued to type, suffling the mouse with his other hand. "...So that should be interesting! Well, that wraps up the hour! Tune in tomorrow! This is Kurokuma...
...and Koori~ signing off!""Click!" the screen went black and Reki shoved the chair back under the desk. He began to walk towards the giant windows which made up the corner of his apartment. He grabbed his goggles off his bed as he opened the glass panel. "Ahh..." he hummed, looking out. He was about twenty stories above the streets below. The skyscraper breeze whisked through his hair, blowing it every which way. Shozu, the City of Flames. Also known as the capital of Fire Country. Countless metal arms reach towards the sky in this city of steel and concrete. Known as the single largest and most expensive city in the world, Shozu is the home to over 15 million Fire Country citizens. Something interesting is always happening here, and adventure can be discovered just around the corner. The breeze filled Reki with a sense of calmness. He fastened his headset and slid the goggles over his eyes. A wide grin pulled from ear to ear. "Banzaiiiiiii!" Reki cheered as he soared down the side of the skyscraper. He admired the looks of horror on the other tenants' faces as he passed by their windows in a flash of black. "Hehehe." Reki's feet twitched. Suddenly, he was attached to the side of the building, and he was sliding down like he was on rollerblades. A trail of blue energy left its wake behind his shoes. "Wooo~hooo!" Reki cried again. Suddenly, he leaped off the side of the building, catching onto a street lamp with both hands. His momentum caused him to spin around several times before he let himself soar like a rock from a slingshot. No sooner did he land on a restaurant's overhanging tarp than he was up again in the air. Honking horns screeched as the drivers watched the mysterious boy fling himself through the air. "What are you doing, you're gonna get yerself killed!"
"Just who do you think you are?!"
"*Gasp*, it's spider man!"Reki laughed as he soared gently through the air. "Goodbye my fans, I have business to attend to! Places to go, people to meet~!" His voice trailed off as he disappeared. Honking and yelling; the streets and the air were filled with evidence of the wake of chaos he had left. ***** The room directed its attention toward Reki as he entered through the sliding doors. Reki looked around the room, meeting each person's glance. I guess their mothers never taught them not to stare...A young receptionist tapped her fingers on the wooden counter. "Welcome to 31st Street Bank, do you have business?" "Reki Shuto, I have an appointment...?" The receptionist began to type. "Oh! Of course Reki! He's helping someone in the back but I'll alert him that you've arrived. He should be out in a minute or two so go ahead and take a seat." "Sure," Reki replied, smiling with his ever-charmful face. His feet slid as he turned. Each movement of his was so graceful that he couldn't help but grab the attention of those nearby. He turned again and let himself drop into a green, plush chair. His eyes slowly moved across the bank lobby, scanning the various decorations and people adorning it. That was how Reki saw it anyway. He noticed some people were still staring at him. His response, as usual, was to make eye-contact with them and smile.

It had started off as a rather uneventful day for the young Akulai. He had awoken to the brisk sound of his alarm clock which he obediently respected. It had been set at that time for a reason, and as an honorable ninja, he would abide by the warning the beeping noises sent.
GET UP
And he did. He was in a quaint, independent Inn in the great steel city of Shozu. It was well equipped with a small bed, and a small washroom. It was humble, and Raq didn't mind that. He took a quick shower. Well, quick might have been slightly misleading. It would have seemed quick, but Raq made sure it was slightly longer and more drawn out than his other ones. Even if a meeting such as today's was schedualed, Time always seemed to wait for Raq.
The Akulai exited the shower. He was well build and tall for his age. His skin was dark, as if he had spent his life in the Wind Nation (which he hadn't). Quickly, Raq put on his usual attire: a pair of long cargo shorts, a netted shirt... and most importantly his turban. He debated with wearing the scarf or not, but in the end just grabbed it anyway. It made him look cool and shielded his mouth from the noxious fumes of Shozu.
Raq had left the building swiftly, leaving his fares on his bed for the maid to pick up. And that was his morning.
But now it was hours later. The meeting had been successful, and rather productive. They had worked things out... just in time too. It was the Fire Festival of Shozu tomorrow. In fact, Raq had been assigned to work with the Festival as a volunteer. It was in his mind that by working with members of the Land of Fire, he would increase his status as a foreigner: something he had accomplished the same way in the Land of Earth.
But, business today at the 31st Street Bank was finished. Just as a taut, secretarial woman had entered the room, Raq was making his way out. He glanced at her, and smiled. She smiled back.
Things were set. Things were going to go well for Raq Akulai. His mind was set, his eyes were on the prize, and he was pretty excite- BAM.
He had just bumped into someone. It was pretty hard too. The kid would have been knocked back rather far. That's the price one pays when colliding with a Waterfall Ninja. Raq rushed over to the person, who now seemed much older (about Raq's age). He was slightly shorter, with a shock of blond hair, and a black jacket. He wore goggles, which were just as particular as Raq's scarf.
"You alright?" He extended his hand.

"Augh!" Reki grunted as he slammed onto the floor. "What...what the hell?!" he growled, rolling backwards and onto his feet. He looked quite angry, until he had a chance to study his aggressor. Something about him erased any hostility Reki had managed to harness.
Reki sighed. "Ah, it's okay. Accidents happen after all."
Reki heard footsteps. "Master Raq, there is one last thing I forgot to mention-oh my, Mr. Shuto!" greeted a slightly aged bank manager. "We've been expecting you." Just then one of the tellers tapped the manager on the shoulder and turned him around, whispering something into his ear. He said something back which couldn't be made out. The teller nodded and the manager turned back to the boys. "Would you two mind waiting a minute? I'll be right back."
"Yeah sure," Reki replied, waving him away. He turned back to Raq, grinning deviously as he folded his arms. "So, I've got a minute to spare. Master Raq was what he called you, right?" Reki chuckled. "Well, to even the playing field I suppose I should introduce myself. The name's 'Reki'," the boy explained, smiling. "Say uh," Reki paused, examing Raq slowly,"those are some weird clothes. You're not from around here are you?" Reki questioned, his eyes filled with curiosity.

Raq was alarmed at the hostile response his peer had made to the accident. Of course, there was reason as well: he had just been tanked by someone completely randomly. Raq might have done the same thing. However, this new person collected himself swiftly and got to his feet. Just by the way he recovered and got to his feet, Raq could tell that this person was a ninja. No doubt about it.
The manager had emerged to tell Raq something, but was inturrupted by the secretary. Raq couldn't think of any reason he'd be after him, but Raq would wait if it was important. However, a conversation had sparked between him and his new peer. It was intriguing.
"Hi.... Reki Shuto. I'd be Raq Akulai." They shook hands. Reki made a comment concerning clothing. Raq got that kind of stuff occasionally. "Heheh, nice observation. No, I'm not from around here. I'm a bit of a traveler; origin Takigakure. It's... a lot different from here."
Raq paused. His turn. "Now, I'd like to say your clothes reveal some heritage, but you look like the majority of ninja around these parts. Where do you come from?"
He liked this. Meeting new people wasn't always his talent, but practice makes perfect.

Reki cocked his head. "Ninja?.." he muttered, examining his clothes. "You really think I look like a ninja?" he laughed. "Well, whatever, I was born here in the Land of Flames. Used to live in a little town to the southeast, but..." he had a devious grin about his face again,"I decided I didn't like it, and moved here."
"Alright, sorry for the wait," the bank manager aplogized. "I..."
Suddenly, the doors of the bank opened, and Reki's ear twitched.
"Everyone, on the ground, hands behind your head!" screamed a masked man holding up a gun. He fired a few shots into the air and in an instant, everyone was on the floor.
Reki stared carefully before kneeling down. "Better do as he says," he advised Raq. "...at least just for the moment."
There were five men in total. Two of them exited the bank after a moment, while another two proceeded to run towards Reki. He was a bit surprised at first, until he realized he was next to the bank manager.
"Oh n-" began the bank manager, only to suffer a punch to the stomach. One of the men grabbed him from behind.
"You like like the suit here," chuckled one of them, apparently the ringleader. Reki and Raq were both in range to hear the conversation. "You're going to lead my friends to the safe, okay?"
"I...I-" the bank manager stammered, only to receive another blow from the butt of the robber's gun. He was lead to the back by one of the robbers, while the ringleader and the other robber holding up the tellers joined up.
Reki sighed and turned his head over to Raq. "So, if you're from a...hidden village, you must be a ninja, right?" He waited for Raq's answer and nodded. "So...wanna have some fun?" he inquired, grinning.
The two men were talking in the middle of the bank, everyone around them frozen in fear. Reki whispered something to Raq. The third man emerged from the back, tossing a sack of money towards his partners. "Let's go, I'll get the rest," he shouted.
One of the men walked over and picked up the sack, throwing it over his shoulder and running towards the door. The ring leader began to walk across the room in the opposite direction.
"Now."
Reki rose to his feet and in an instant, he had disappeared. Suddenly, a shadowy figure appeared in front of the man trying to escape, nearly causing him to fall backward. "Hey," Reki muttered in a serious tone,"that could be my money you're walking out with. I don't take kindly to thieves."
"W-what?!" shouted the man, holding up his gun. "You must be craz-" He fired a shot, but Reki wasn't there anymore. The robber felt a palm on his back. His eyes widened and he began to sweat furiously. Reki pulled the gun out of his hands slowly and held it upside down in his right hand. "That's better." Reki said calmly. His arm was wrapped casually, but tightly around the robber's neck.
"What are you..." the man began,"freak!" he yelled, breaking free and beginning to sprint towards the door. "I love it when they run away," Reki chuckled, clicking the safety on the gun as he looked up and tossed it at one of the bank's hanging chandaliers. "Heads up!" he called out. The robber looked up just in time to see a missile of glass falling towards him.
The chandalier and the man collapsed on the floor with a crash. Reki watched as the two men outside turned and discovered their incapacitated comrade. There eyes focused on him and then turned to Reki. The sliding doors opened. Reki smiled. This is going to get interesting.

It had all happened incredibly fast. The bank was now under fire and was being robbed. The whole scenario left Raq laughing inside. However, with armed enemies, the danger was just as real.
Raq was on the ground when he and Reki had mutually agreed to confront the aggressors. Reki had made a comment about "being from a hidden village" and "showing your stuff", but the Akulai didn't pay much attention to the comments. However, it was always nice to show some of your personal style when confronting enemies, and Raq was excited to display it.
CRASH.
Reki's maneuver had just incapacitated one of the five bandits. His conrades, two burly thugs that had run out of the building with their money had just dropped their prize and were preparing to charge at Raq's new friend. Their weapons were drawn as Raq rose to his feet. They would shoot, no doubt.
Raq stepped in front of his comerade and grinned. "Watch this, Reki. I've got these two... and after I'm done with them, I'll come help you with the rest inside. *hint*" Raq's left hand shot up to his chest level as he performed a quick handseal. His prowess with defensive ninjutsu had allowed him to perform most of it with a single hand. The jutsu activated, and a thin wave of energy pulsated through the room. Only those with acute chakra sensing abilities would have noticed it (aka, ninja).
It was the power of time.
Then, Raq would make his move. To a viewer, it would seem as though Raq was moving at the speed of sound towards the bandits, but to Raq, a ninja capable of harnessing time itself, he was merely jogging towards them; drawing four kunai as well. He would have covered the 20 yard distrance in miliseconds. By the time he had arrived face to face with the theifs, they would have had no time to pull the triggers on their guns. It was over.
To Raq Akulai, the world was moving at a faction of its regular pace. And as he moved normally, he would seem to the world as if he was moving incredibly fast. It was the perfect combination: being able to detect slow movements by opponents, and then retaliate quickly with faster, sharper movements. And that was exactly what Raq did. All Kunai drawn, Raq quickly disarmed both men of their guns, and then immediately pinned them both down to the ground with his kunai. Their feet pierced and in a great deal of pain, and stuck to the ground. There would be no moving for them (at least until proper authorities had arrived to remove them). Raq released his technique and picked up the guns. "Nifty weapons. However, I like mine -- ya know, the ones impaling your feet." One of the thugs writhed in pain.
"Two more to go. I'm coming, Reki."

Reki laughed. Wow, whod've guessed he would be armed? The commotion brought the two men out from the back. When they saw Reki and Raq, the larger man pulled out his gun and began to unload bullets at an automatic rate. The ring leader took the moment to step back into the shadows.
Reki took cover. Even he was no match for an automatic rifle at that range. He could hear the bullets wracking against the back of the marble pillar as he tried to make himself as small as possible.
However, he wasn't just hiding. The entire time, he had been listening to the sound; the beat and rythym of each shot fired. Reki counted, 27...28...29...30! He waited for a moment before revealing himself. He grinned as he watched the man struggling to reload.
"Night-night," Reki taunted as he closed in. The man took a swing at him with his gun, but Reki nimbly dodged underneath and rolled to his feet. Another swing; Reki dodged again. For some reason, he wasn't attacking. Or at least, it didn't seem it.
"Well, if you're just gonna run around," the robber growled, shoving his ammunition into his rifle. He pulled the trigger, but nothing happened. Again he tried. His gun was jammed.
Reki broke out into laughter. In his hand were a few shell casings that he had picked up. "Guess it only took one," chuckled Reki, tossing the others over his shoulder.
Again, he disappeared, reappearing behind the man with his stolen gun. "You guys can't seem to keep a handle on your toys," he commented, gripping it tightly. Before the man could react, Reki bashed him in the back of the head and he fell with a loud "thump". Reki dropped the gun beside him. Suddenly, his eyes widened. Something inside of him told him, Duck.
Reki dropped his head just in time to hear the noise of a knife whizzing by. He looked up. "So, you kids think you can tustle with bank robbers eh? Well, let's see how you deal with a real shinobi!"
Reki watched in confusion as the man performed several hand signs, creating a field of lightning around his hand. He ducked as the man reached out. He could feel the electricity clinging to him from above. It felt like it was pulling him. Gotta get out of here! Reki rolled and leaped to the side, landing a few meters away. "Well this is new," Reki mumbled, a hint of discord in his voice. How do I take sparky down...if he tags me with that, I'm finished...let's see what Raq can do.

Before he knew it the battle changed intensities. Raq and Reki had successfully incapacitated four of the five bandits who were robbing the bank. However, the fifth and final member was a shinobi. Looking back on his actions, Raw it probably wasn't most advantageous to perform ninja arts to take down a mere peon. He'd have risked giving the opponent the opportunity to study Raq's techniques, if the man was in the room at the time. It certainly had been a while since his last battle -but mistakes like that weren't to be made again.
However, without ninja arts, defeating a Lightning Element shinobi would be difficult. It was easy to say that one hit from that lightning ninjutsu he was charging would prove lethal. The enemy shinobi was on the opposite end of the room that Raq was on, and Reki was conveniently placed in the middle. Reki had dodged the technique --something Raq had noticed that Reki was quite telanted at.
It was an excellent team, Raq began to realize. Reki was obviously an expert at dodging attacks and then returning with a powerful, finishing blow. Raq was the opposite. His prowess lied in defending and incapacitating targets.
The shinobi's electrical attack was still activated as he moved towards a grounded Reki. Raq would make his move now. Without activating his time technique, he sprinted to the middle of the room towards the enemy. His right hand brandished a kunai, and his left performed a series of three quick handseals. More defensive ninjutsu coming your way.
From two, oversized vases in the bank lobby emerged two thick streams of water. Just as the shinobi would make his thrust towards Reki, the two streams would swirl around Raq's peer, creating a sheild of spiraling water. The electricity from the technique would be channeled into the stream of water, and would rebound back into the man's hand after making a full circuit. The force of his own technique would easily fry his hand and 'cause severe burning.
Reki would know what to do from here --an disabled target, and a fool-proof Takigakure defense? What other option would there be? Raq would release the technique if needed; and the Akulai was confident that Reki would get the hint. This robbery was over.

Reki covered his head as he was surrounded with water. He didn't know what was going on, but he felt the electrical current swirling around him. Augh, I'm gonna die aren't I?Suddenly, the waters parted, and the enemy was reeling in shock. Reki didn't really know what had happened, but he knew an opportunity when he saw one. Reki stepped forward, his right foot behind the man's left leg. He pulled back, flippin the man horizontally in the air, and with a powerful elbow, he drove him into the bank floor. It had all happened to fast. The bank patrons weren't sure whether it was safe to stand up. Finally, it sank in, and they began to applaud the two boys' efforts. The bank manager approached Reki in a panic. "M-Mr. Shuto, I had no idea you were such a fighter!" "Oh stop," chuckled Reki in a slightly obnoxious laugh. He turned to the robber and the ground and folded his arms. "Well, I'd sure like to get to our meeting, but it seems you've got some bigger things to take care of at the moment." "A-are you sure?" the bank manager stammered. "Yeah, it's okay. It's not like it's that urgent anyways. Tie these guys up and call the cops," Reki ordered. "Y-yes, of course," the bank manager replied, bowing. "You have our deepest thanks. If you hadn't been here-" "Meh," Reki interrupted,"I wasn't the only one," he explained, pointed to Raq over his shoulder. "Oh, yes! Master Akulai, I thank you as well," the man repeated, bowing once again. "That was true showmanship!" The bank manager straightened himself and ordered his workers to attend to the robbers. Reki shoved his hands in his pockets. "Well, when should I see you again Carlen?" The bank manager paused for a moment in thought. "I suppose...I'll see you both tomorrow, around nine o' clock?" Reki turned to Raq. Both of us?"Well, whatever, I'll see you tomorrow morning," Reki sighed. He turned around to Raq. "We'd better get out of here. It'll be a pain if the cops find out about us. Especially considering..." Reki stared at Raq accusingly. ***** Reki and Raq started down the street just in time to avoid the police. "Well..." Reki mumbled, folding his arms behind his head as they walked. "I didn't really have anything else planned for today." He hummed to himself. "Oh, that's right! You're new around here. I should show you around town. That could be fun right?" Reki rarely met anyone around his own age, so he was happy to finally make a friend.

It was as good as done. The robbery was a failure, and Raq and Reki were heroes for a day. Their quick thinking and teamwork had foiled a shinobi and his four thugs. It also gave Raq a look at what his new compainion could do. It was unfortunate, for sure, having revealed so much in such a little time, but it didn't matter at this point. It wasn't like the two ninja were to spontaneously burst into combat. But, then again, perhaps Reki hadn't noticed the Time Technique, nor paid much attention to the Spiraling Shield. Stop, Raq. The action is finished. But it was hard to help it; adrenaline was rushing through the youngest Akulai's body, and battle was the only thing on his mind.
But it dies down, soon enough, and he was left with Reki alone down the streets of Shozu. Raq had never quite taken a fine look at the Fire Capitol, but upon taking the time to, he noticed it truely was a place of advancement, opportunity and modernization. It was much different from the little Hidden Waterfall Village he came from. Raq was betting that Reki's home town was just as big -if not larger then the small shinobi village of Raq's origin.
"A tour of Shozu? That would be excellent. I didn't have much else planned for today either."
They continued to walk on down 31st Street, which was incredibly large considering it's numerical rank on the city's street grid. There were shops filled with nicknacks everywhere, food stores, ice cream parlors... very little ninja-related was to be found. It made sense though; very few realized that outside ninja villages was a rather common, normal civilization. Raq was certainly used to this -living in many places had granted him it. Reki seemed to take it in fine, as well, from what Raq could tell.
Thinking back on it, that little shpeal in the bank might have been a bit overwhelming for the city. Hell, he even drew kunai. Against guns? Normally, that'd be a stupid idea, but when speed isn't an issue, even the most elementary items can be useful. Tuning back into life, Raq smiled cheerily at his companion.
"So where to first-" Raq said, but cutting himself off, "Oh, I'm going to need a couple Kunai and," he licked his lips, "a bottle of water before the day's done. So, if we happen to find a weapons shop, I hope you wouldn't mind waiting for me."
Hopefully that didn't sound too... weird.

Reki turned his head, revealing his surprised expression. "Weapons shop? Hm..." Reki paused for a moment and suddenly grabbed Raq by the arm, pulling him into an old-style pizzeria. "This place has the best pizza in town," Reki declared, entering the restaurant. "And..." he began, turning to Raq,"I think I should explain something to you."
The boys sat down in a booth. "I'll have the triple-pineapple, bacon, and cinnamon special!" Reki ordered. The other customers turned and stared with skepticism, as if they couldn't believe there was such a special.
Reki waited for Raq to order and then remained silent until the owner was out of range. He looked to the side and then leaned in. "I have to say," he began, this time in a more serious tone,"that was pretty brave of you using ninjutsu in public like that. I'm guessing you don't know, but, using ninjutsu in this town is strictly prohibited."
He leaned back again and continued. "You won't find any shops like the ones your were talking about here." Reki held up his finger and gazed seriously. "Shozu is strictly against ninja of any kind."

"I'll have what he's having..." They'd wait for the meal. Then, it came.
"......" Raq was silent. He knew that was coming. Well, he didn't really know that was coming, but judging from Reki's reaction and the bank members, it was quite obvious. But now that it was out, there was a problem.
"Hm," Raq said, looking as his plate of... yummy food, "Well, that's unfortunate, eh?" Raq was trying to keep a calm, cool visage, but he was troubled inside. It would be impossible for him to reach a high status in Shozu like this.
"That's why we were in such a hurry to get out, eh? I'd imagine we're gonna get a bit of attention... and," he looked down, "I can't really afford that." It would have been silent by this point. Raq had a solution, but it wasn't pleasant.
"But, let's not worry about that just now. Let's try and have an amusing day and finish touring the city. At the end of the day, or if anything unexpected happens, then I'll deal with the problem." Raq grinned and shuffled with his turban.
"This looks... good(?)" he said, eyeing the pizza.
And it was, actually. He snarfed the slice down in seconds.

"Well, it probably won't be a big deal," Reki concluded. He leaned back and took a swig of his soda. "It's all a little confusing to me though. I wonder how that guy made his hand all 'shocky'." Reki paused and tapped his finger against his head. "Maybe it had to do with all of those weird hand formations he was making."
Reki remained silent for a few moments before speaking up again. "Hehe, sorry, I'm not used to hanging out with people. I'm usually by myself here. So...what brings you to the quiet, little village of Shozu?" Reki asked sarcastically.

How did he make his hands all shocky like that..... Maybe it had something to do with all those strange hand formations he was making....? Raq was slightly baffled. Reki had mentioned ninjutsu before, and had obviously identified Raq's when he performed it... but he didn't know how to do it? It almost made Raq laugh inside. However, it was fair enough. Not all ninja could do every art.
"Heheh, don't worry about it. I've been a solo traveler for a while now, I know what it's like." That was the truth; since the age of 12, Raq had been traveling distances alone. "Well, Shozu's fire festival is reason enough... I'm volunteering, actually. I'm hoping to get a good name all with the major Lands. Ya know, helping here and there. I also enjoy visiting new places and learning new customs..."
Raq stopped speaking to take a breath.
"That's my reason. What brings you here... from your small village, at least?" Raq sipped his soda, but stopped. He swore he heard police sirens in the background.
Just my imagination...

Reki paused and listened for a moment before replying. "Well, I originally came from Kinshouraku, a village in the countryside. That is, I didn't actually live in the village, but my mother and father own a mansion hidden nearby."
He leaned back and sighed. "Eventually, I got sick of listening to my parents. They wouldn't let me do what I wanted. I wasn't very good at playing the role of a rich noble, either." Reki sighed again. "My family is very famous in Fire Country, you see. My great grandfather was a world-renowned shinobi. Apparently, he invented his own orignal style of ninjutsu based upon his ability to transform into animals."
Reki played with the straw in his glass, nimbly spinning it on the edge of his finger. "So anyways, I just up and left one day, into the forest. I think I was about twelve at the time..." Reki paused to try and remember. "I didn't have any money, so I ended up living on the outskirts of Shozu for two years, taking shelter in the forest and hunting for food."
Reki leaned in and suddenly his face showed a hint of gloom. "Then, one day, a man named 'Ereck' discovered me and offered me a place to stay in the city. When I got there, I realized it was a homeless shelter. I told him," Reki said, holding his hands out expressively,"that I didn't want any part of it. I said 'I'd much prefer my home outside of town'. Erick laughed at this, but afterward he offered to teach me how to fight." Reki rubbed his arm. "He told me I had 'great potential', and, if I was going to live in the forest, I should know how to fight properly. Of course, I already knew a thing or two, since I was forced to hunt for my meals every day for two years."
He stopped again and listened as the police cars drove by. "Every so often, while I was Erick's pupil, he would take me into Shozu, or, I would come by myself. One day..." Reki laughed, lowering his head and shading over his eyes. "...I stumbled into what looked like an auction hall. A big event was taking place and the ten-thousand seats it held were nearly all filled up. The man at reception noticed I looked like quite the homeless little wretch, and snuck me a ticket, saying 'Here, you could probably use it more than any of these people. Have some luck come your way'." Reki leaned back again and chuckled. "Of course, back then, I didn't know what I was getting myself into."
Reki held up his finger and smiled. "It was actually a lottery house. The pot was greater than any lottery in the history of the continent, and thousands of people had flocked in hopes to strike it lucky. Apparently, whoever won this pot would have enough money to support his family in luxury for ten generations." Reki held up five fingers across his two hands.
The boy grinned deviously. "So...I walked into the hall. Turns out I filled the last open seat, go figure. The announcer opened with a brief word about how honored we was to host the event, yada-yada..."
Reki paused and smiled. "Finally, he began to read off the numbers. I began to read my ticket as his voice echoed through the hall. Each number...one after another...was spot on. I kept reading until finally, he reached the last number. Most of the room had already realized they had lost, but there were still ten of us left who had a chance at the fortune. The last number, I remember, was seven."
He began to laugh as he leaned back. "My, how I wish I could see their faces again. I remember it all so clearly. They gasped in horror as a dirty, ragged little boy waltzed up and snagged the prize. Hehe, the announcer wouldn't give it to me at first."
Reki stared into Raq's eyes. " 50 million," Reki said, holding up five fingers. "The prize was 50 million ryou."
"I'll save the rest for another time," Reki explained. "But ever since that fateful day, I've been living in the city of Shozu. Pretty interesting eh?"
Reki spoke up again before Raq could even respond. "Sorry, I think I've said too much." Indeed, the whole restaurant was now eyeing Reki with great alertness. "We'd better get out of here." He laid the bill on the table. "I'll cover it," he declared, smiling smugly.
The two boys exited the restaurant and were off onto the street again. "So," Reki began, folding his arms behind his head,"what do you wanna do now?"
